    Installing Windows 2000 Big Dilema

Ok here's the story, I was running Windows ME, then I upgraded to Windows XP. After about a year of great behaving from windows XP, I decided to install windows 2000. There have been some power outages oround here and everytime the power went out the computer would just go off. I heard this causes problems to the OS. Now the computer has some programs missing ie paint, calculator, sometimes Explorer just crashes for no reason, and IE just playing won't start up. Now I need to install an OS again, I decided to install windows 2000, here is where the problem starts, the win2k cd is not a boot up cd, and I was wondering how could I install it, I can't install it right from XP because it says it's an older system and it just won't work.

Good Lord, the problems keep coming, I want to completely wipe out XP from my computer and then be able to install Win2k, but I don't know how to format an XP hardrive........I can't start in Dos, I can't format from the command prompt because the drive "is mounted", and I can't format from my computer because apparently something is accessing the drive at the moment or something like that, that's what XP claims. I need help.

Oke, WinXP is a pain to get rid off
So you first plug your drive in another computer delete everything
that even looks like it's from XP, Then get a boot disk or cd,
And install Win2000. You can also delete XP from DOS, however
this tends to leave some hidden files of XP around on your drive,
    bad idea.

98se,win me, win 2000 pro, win xp, redhat linux, not going to name them all. but use the hidden atribute in dos, then manually delete them if needed too. though iv never had to do that after running fdisk. oh yeah the ATTRIB -H does that. might need to set the pathname.

Ok, thanks guys, everything is going well now, I just used the win2k boot disks partioned the hardrive into three partions, now I have XP running on one partition, and WIN2K on another one. Right now I am using XP to access the internet because 2k will not read my modem. Well I don't know what to do from there, guess is time to go look around google again....
