    HELP!!! Apache Problem :(

I just installed Apache on my computer, and installed the patch for Windows ME as well, but it still won't work... When I run Apache, a window pops up and then pops back down again and I don't get a chance to see what is written on the window. i CAN see something on the window, but can't read it, what should I do?

Hmm, this is a console window or what?
If it's a console window, try running the program under DOS, and then you'll get time to see the msg.

You did configure well the conf file of apache? Check out and see if you forgot something.

How? You run the apache http server from the DOS.
You have the executable, just run it.

    You sure that:
    http://localhost, dont work with you?

I know I'm such an idiot, but what exactly do you type in the DOS window to run the program? -_-;; btw, the localhost thing gives me a page cannot be displayed error...

P.S. Sorry about PMing you, I got a bit impatient XD

Apache runs as a command line application on 9x cored versions of Windows, (with NT cored system you can install it as a service).

Look here scroll down to the section dealing with Console Applications.

Make sure you get the latest build, 2.0.44.

Yes, I suppose so. I'll move it and leave a redirect.

    Why uninstall? it's not difficult.
Maybe if you don't know how to install apache, take a pre-configured binary apache + mysql + php like: FoxServ, etc.

Does noone follow my advice, your apache solutions are just one click away -- look up at my previous thread...

One stiff, but I don't want to make my computer a webserver, I just want it so that I can test PHP and CGI on my computer

Oh, and I'll go try the foxserv thing, thanks!

goto www.download.com and search for PHP and PERL and download the IDE's - many of them emulate the server execution and give u results.

    >> but I don't want to make my computer a webserver
Yeah, but installing apache is installing apache, after u do so u can turn your comp into a trash bin with apache installed.

Hmm, not exactly, under AIX, I run apache very well, and it isn't just an webserver, I use the pc for other tasks.

I guess is the same in windows.
