i had a kind of noober question. my cpu temp is right around 108F right now, and i got this app to adjust fan speeds to decrease temps...is it possible for the cpu to be too cold? obviously my fan isnt going to cool the cpu off to a freezing temp, i know that, but say if it got around 85F or so, would that be bad???

anyway he did this by installing some liquid nitrogen tubes around his cpu and then he overclocked it so if im correct u wouldnt hurt anyone with a very cold cpu. Unless urself who maybe is about to be glued to the comp :s

I always say the colder the better... my CPU runs between 80 and 90 F...

seriuosly its that cold the temp around the cpu is far below zero degrees. i dont know if u have ever sticked ur hand in a barrel with liquid nitrogen ?? (dunno if its nitrogen anyway its on mendeljevs table the symbol N) liquid nitrogen is about minus 100 degrees i guess so yes im seriously

have some serious cooling, and i mean REALLY serious.
Ganglamb: What CPU has your friend? Also have you seen him
looking in his bios for the CPU temp? If he used a program it
might well be possible the program sucks.

it isnt just a cooling fan
it are tubes small and lots of tubes in those tubes the LIQUID NITROGEN flows and LIQUID NITROGEN is VERY cold about 100 degrees below zero if you dont believe what im saying look it up somewhere wut nitrogen is all about

I know how it looks.
It's a good cool method but also expensive and dangerous.
You wouldn't want to liqoud poring out on the floor or on your
feet! I wouln't want it as a cool method because i leave my pc
alone sometimes and i wouldn't dare with Liquid Nitrogen.

well expensive indeed and the danger of a leak well u have to take that with it but if its good installed then normally u wont have any problems with leaks
but yeah somewhere u got a point u can never be sure with a thing like that
Liquid nitrogen? Now come on, this should work eventually for a short time (the nitrogen gets consumed!).
On the other hand, what happens with the mainboard around the CPU? What about the condense? Around the CPU will appear a not-so-thin ice layer, which tends to melt on the borders.
And we know, mainboards generally don't like water.
That's why this method won't work, just if you "freeze" the whole mainboard!
I saw such an experiment somewhere on the net, when a CPU was overclocked about 10 times(?) - just an interesting experiment.
However, keeping your CPU in a cryogenical state is really expensive, it's not worth it, buying a quicker CPU would be much more cheaper.
I have a friend, who has a first generation organic processor, based on snail neurons! Unfortunately, BIOS doesn't recognize it, as it says upon power-on self test:
"Warning!!!
CPU not recognized / supported! Please contact the CPU vendor or check for a BIOS update"
