    Rebuilding RPMS

does any one have any experience with RPMS? i want to "recompile" the ones i have already installed(so i can put in some optimization flags). i know that i did this before, but after talking to some Gentoo linux fans(there sys admins at a local college of mine) it almost sounds like you cant do a real gcc-like compile, what was i doing?

If you have the source rpms, i think you can install them and build the program from that. There may be an rpm option allowing you to do that with one command. (maybe an --rebuild flag?)
