    nVidia video card and redhat linux 8.0

    i have a nVidia card. geforce 2 i think. and i am trying to install redhat linux 8. obviously redhat linux doesnt like nVidia. welll thats wut some guy i was talking to said and after isntalling 8.0 x windows didnt work im guessing because of my video card. is there a way i can still use the gui? like downloading a special driver etc

    Check out the linux site to see if your video card is compatible with your version of linux, if the driver updates dont work.

    reading through the page... I dont see any kernal drivers for 8.0 . should i try downloading the latest redhat 7 driver and trying it out or would that screw up something bad?

    i have a RD 7.2 and a nivida geForce 2 the same card as your ..it works fine .... Linux does support nivida is it that it not working or what ???

    im using 8.0 not 7.2 im thinking about using a 7.2 nvdia driver on 8.0 but im not sure if it is worth the risk or time or wutever

    Just try it, it'd be stupid if you got Linux 8.0 and it didn't work with any of your hardware - in fact it would be worthless and pathetic. Try the 7.2 drivers, if they don't work then Linux SUX DICK........

    If you don't find binaries for your platform, just use the srpms or the tarball. I use the nVidia hardware drivers on several Linux boxes here, and while I am not currently running RH8 on either of them, both are running the latest version of X, which really make the difference.

    What have you tried, and if you have tried anything, what are the results of an attempt as recorded in your /var/log/XFree86*, and what is your current /etc/X11/XF86Config-4?
