Curious network issues
Okay, we're having some probs here with out network at home. Broadband is connected to my computer via a special adapter that came with the broadband pack and then me and my brother have out computers networked together using cat-5 cables.
Everything works fine ( we can share internet and find each other on the network ) for around half an hour or so and then all of a sudden it just stops. My brother can't connect to the internet anymore and we both can't find each other over the network.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before or has any ideas what the problem could be?
are you both active during this time? it COULD be a collision issue, do you have a collision light on your hub?
edit:// Also if you shut down the network and bring it back up in say, five minutes, does it work again? I've heard of this issue if a hub overheats. Also check to make sure you don't have too many power cords wrapped around or contacting/crossing over your cat cables as they can interfere.
Thanks RoD, we did just have a huge bundle of cables under a bed. You've given us something to try thanks.
