    Mandrake Linux

    Hello, I was thinking of download Mandrake 9.0 for my old computer. Does anyone know if it would run on a (I think a 486 + 133), and would it fit on a 5 gig hard drive?

    I dont plan to do much on the computer, just learn how to use it, so as long as it fits, thats fine with me.

    Thanks.

    i would find a slimmer linux, look around www.linuxiso.org , anything youve never heard of should do fine. It will be very slow, but the 5gig HDD should be adequate

    An installation will definetely fit in 5 gigs, but you really won't be able to run anything 'pretty' on it. Perhaps a very basic window manager, but nothing like KDE or GNOME.

    Better check on system ram minimum requirements. RH7.0 and later won't install on less than 64M. I bet Mandrake 9.0 won't either.

    slimmer==less packages

    less popular==usually requires less system resources
