Do sound cards heat up?

I've had music playing for a few days, and I'm wondering if I should worry about giving my sound card some downtime, or if it doesn't matter?

Soundcards generally only dissapate a watt or two. As long as your case isn't overheating, you don't need to worry. Overheating usually affects the cpu chip first.
