    Port forwarding, delayed effect?

    Hello all,

    I recently had to do port forwarding on a router, to get a device to communicate properly with external traffic.

    A weird thing happened though, immediately after saving the changes in the router, I couldn't communicate with the device through the external IP (even though "canyouseeme.org" showed an open port).

    About an hour later I tried again, and the device was communicating correctly.

    This is the first time I've had to do this, so I was wondering if it was normal for changes to take time to take effect (maybe under specific circumstances)?

    Thanks for any information!

    What router model/version/fw-version?

    When I started using filters on my router, I had to update the FW to get it to work right.

    [edit]filters = individual port-forward allow/deny rules[/edit]
