A classic game called Age of Empires doesn't have any startup agruments to place to host / join a multiplayer game, so the only alternative to that is DirectPlay which was depreciated 3 years ago. My question is, is there any decent tutorials that explain DirectPlay properly?
I did some research and I couldn't find any good tutorials. Also, can somebody explain the steps needed to be taken in DirectPlay to host a game or join a game. Age of Empires apparently needs DirectPlay for multiplayer games.
DirectPlay has long since been deprecated as you have stated. Because of this I highly doubt you will find much about it. When Microsoft deprecates something its as if it disappeared from the face of the earth. I also would not guarantee that the interfaces still work in modern DirectX drivers although they could. You could check on MSDN to see if maybe they have a blurb about it for Windows CE but I doubt it. Some older DirectX8 and DirectX9 books may have some info on it.
