Are you aware that YouTube is run by Google? I don't find it terribly surprising, though I do agree it's a little worrisome (but not much).

edit: actually I don't find it worrisome at all

"utube" is an entirely separate company (see the article below) - were you actually referring to the utube that sued YouTube, or were you just abbreviating? In any case, YouTube was bought by Google a couple of years ago, and has been integrated with a lot of Google services (as evidenced in the link you posted), so it's no surprise that Google uses it's own domain for some of the services.

Especially because Google has its own OpenID implementation.
The programmer’s wife tells him: “Run to the store and pick up a loaf of bread. If they have eggs, get a dozen.”
The programmer comes home with 12 loaves of bread.

It's hard to type with paws instead of fingers. You know, no opposable thumbs.

We should bio engineer cats to have opposable thumbs then. After that we should do bears and sharks.
Until you can build a working general purpose reprogrammable computer out of basic components from radio shack, you are not fit to call yourself a programmer in my presence. This is cwhizard, signing off.

In October 2006, Google Inc. announced that it had acquired YouTube for US$1.65 billion in Google stock, and the deal was finalized on November 13, 2006.[22]
