To be fair to Obi-wan, when Luke asks if the droids were his, all he says is "I don't recall ever owning any droids" which in essense is true since they were Anakin's and Padme's.
I dunno, some inconsistancies I wouldn't blame on Lucas or the third movie like Luke moving in with his uncle and not changing his name or Obi-Wan not recognizing the droids. Its a problem with the...
