If I remember correctly, NeHe was working on a legend of zelda clone game with some other people and he got some email saying he had to stop development of the game because of the copyright...or something like that.

I personally think it's stupid to not allow people to make a clone of the game if they're not going to make any money off of it...though I could see how in some cases it could be a hindrance to profits for the other company...I remade a good part of Final Fantasy 1 a while back, and nobody's gotten on my back about it, so who knows *shrugs*

God i wish i was 2 years ahread in my C++ learning lol. MMORPG's are what i wanna get into hardcore. Iv always done IRC MuD's and i view my ideas on MMO well rounded. So thats the field im taking my programming into one way or another, paid or not lol.

Anyway, is there a website or something you have?

And is there anyway in cases like these you can contact the right suit's to get allowance on the game? Though i spose that would mean you would never have the option to make any money off of it :/.

I would help, however, my specialty is in DirectX. Pretty much the major difference is how the matrices are setup. D3D are right handed by default and OGL are left handed or vice versa, I forget.

However I would be more than happy to help in any areas concerning the core 3D engine. The mathematics are the same whether you use OGL or D3D as well as the optimizations you need to employ to get the desired frame rates.

I've also got several books on the way concerning NVidia's Cg and D3D HLSL so I could write some vertex and pixel shaders for your game - and not just shaders that are related to graphics. It's possible on modern hardware to push 3D math onto the GPU - since textures don't have to be graphic data, they can be mathematical data.

Good luck. If you need my assistance, feel free to PM me

There was a really promising Zelda project at http://www.oot2d.com
The site seems down now, though.
