We are currently hiring for a Technical Lead, Engineering in our San Jose, CA office.

As a domain technical lead, you will help guide the Merchant reporting team and work with other PayPal technical leads to help form and deliver our long term architecture for the reporting platform.
Responsibilities include:
· Owns and is accountable for the design and development of a product or major product sub-system (example: owns the Shopping Cart or search backend aggregator, or owns Invoicing or Account Management services).


· Spends most of the time working with architecture to design and define the long term architecture for the reporting mid and back tiers.
· Works with the team to review and produce exemplary and thoroughly tested code for the most challenging features.


· Produces clear, well-communicated, complete designs for product features and works with developers to allow guide them in producing detail level design.


· Recognized as the go-to developer for a product or major sub-system and is seen as a leader in their specialized field.


· Leads product design and code reviews; can competently review any aspect of their product or major sub-system.


· Drives architecture discussions, and proposes solutions to system and product changes.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Intelligence, great judgment and passion for software development.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with a Master’s Degree preferred.
10+ yrs. of software development experience.
Experience building high volume, consumer facing, web applications.
Preferred experience developing secure transactional software products.
Strong skills in C++ and/or Java are required, with demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems.

Reporting knowledge also a plus.
Experience working with XML/XSL frameworks.
Working knowledge of SQL. and Oracle RDBMS or other large commercial databases.
Knowledge of automated unit and system test strategies and frameworks.
Familiarity with Git, Clearcase & Clearquest preferred.
