I know firsthand that Microsoft is hiring SDET's at the moment and are looking to increase the headcount. Why is this through Volt? If this is for Microsoft then do you have to submit to their grueling interview process? If so then why not go directly through Microsoft? I'm fairly sure this is a Microsoft contract since they use the term Software Design in Test Engineer which means you are not really a developer per se. You are writing code to QA test the dev code as well as a host of other tasks.

Also is this an SDET for the kernel team or is this for some other team?

I know that MS uses Volt (and possibly others) even if you apply directly to them, so that's no surprise.
