    Book for Java

I've decided to start learning Java and have been looking at this book
Java: The Complete Reference, Ninth Edition: Amazon.co.uk: Herbert Schildt: 9780071808552: Books

Don't really know anything about Java yet but I think this book is for Java 8, would I be better to wait for a Java 9 version to come out? Are there any big differences between 8 and 9? Also will Java 10 be coming out anytime in the next 6 months?

Have you tried asking on a dedicated Java forum?
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
