Sound Card problems
Hello, I am having problems with my sound card. In certain games, it seems to be making a cracking noise. I have an on board SigmaTec Audio card. I updated the drivers and it still does the crackling. I also tried to put in another older sound card but the computer couldn't read it and the driver wouldn't install unless the computer could read it. Is there anyway I could solve this crackling problem? Could someone double check and make sure I downloaded the correct sound driver if possible? My motherboard is an intel board, Intel D 975XBX I believe, not quite sure to tell you the truth if it is the XB or XBX. Thanks for reading and helping.

Are you sure it is the board and not the speakers? I have had that same problem in the past, turned out it was a broken wire in the speaker cable.

Sorry it took awhile to reply, I am pretty sure it is the card. The sound only occurs in certain games. I would assume that if it was the speakers, it would do it always, whereas the card there might be a certain version of sound coding that might mess up the sound in certain programs. Is it possible for headphones to be ok in all but a few programs as well? I mean I play music pretty loud and sometimes with a heavy base and never hear any problems with them or the card, only in BF2 and UT2k4
