Getting wave sample from microphone.

I would like to get the frequency (I think it's called wave sample.) input from a microphone into some kind of var.

Here is what I've got: [attached file]
As you can see it Opens, Starts, Stops, Closes and creates a buffer.
But I still don't know how to really GET the input in a 'wave sample' format; or even at all.
How can I?
