I'm having problems with my cable modem. Every 10(or so) minutes it resets and I lose connection for about 20 seconds. It's not the connection itself, though because the power light is actually going out too. The power supply going to it is fine and it doesn't appear to be overheating. Does anyone know why this is happening? Perhaps a problem with the power cord?
Have you tried rebooting your modem? Just happened to me last night.

I'd say your cable modem is dying... go buy a new one to see if that fixes the problem. (or you could always check for firmware updates).

Though, that might mean they'd replace it for free. I'll look into that.
Why would you want to RENT one?? You do realize that you pay a monthly fee if you use theirs, right? Most charge you at least $5/mo for the rental... hell, you could pay for the modem in less than a year!
Actually it's no extra charge here cause we have it with a Digital Cable package.

Exactly, you never rent the cable modem, you usually rent the cable boxes though.
