try +"and"

Yea but that makes it a required word. But what if you want it included and scored like the other search words? I've had searches in the past where it ignored words that to me were fairly important.
Oh example (Just remembered about it): Yesterday I was trying to search for how to do a logical and in javascript. In this case "AND" is an important part of the search but its not required to be in the page.
are you sure it doesn't score it like everything else? according to google:to me that reads like: use the '+' to include it in the search like any other word, because otherwise it'll be excluded with a messageQuote:
For example, here's how to ensure that Google includes the "I" in a search for Star Wars, Episode I:
Sorry for posting this thread, I thought since this is a programming forum maybe some of you will know similiar sites or forums for other languages like the once mentioned. I didnt know that this kind of questions will annoy or even offend someone, so much that will hit that reputation button.
I had just 11 reputation points before this thread and now its -8 points because apparently someone didnt find my question suitable for this forum i guess. I could understand giving bad reputation on something regarding bad programming but i dont understand why would you give it for a simple question?
Well anyway. gg :)
> i dont understand why would you give it for a simple question?
Look at the google string axon used. It probably took him less than 10 seconds to put that into google, and one of the first sites was the result he gave you, which answers your question just fine. You're pretty lazy.
I did look what he used for his serarch and if i wanted to use google i would have done it myself. My assumptions when starting this thread was
1] its a programming forum
2] members of this forum might know 1 of the languages mentioned
3] they might be members in forums specific for those languages
But anyway, i didnt know you get punished for asking even if your question is not "smart" enough. I guess next time i have a question my best deal is to ask one of my teachers, then again i hope they dont tell me "use google to learn the subject"
If you're not willing to put any effort into learning the subject, you can't expect us to do it for you. Between this and the thread you've got in the Tech Board right now it seems pretty apparent that you just want to know everything immediately; you don't care about learning it.

(from axon's google list)
Seems like a really good page (it's at least long).
Every word you type into the standard search are required words.Quote:

Also, here's a quote from the google FAQ:
"By default, Google only returns pages that include all of your search terms. "
Didn't "logical and" work?Quote:

Lets not get confused with the questions, I understand what you are saying Govtcheez. And i dont expect anyone to do anything for me, im the only one that has to make the effort to get something done. In the thread on the Tech board all im asking is if what i want is even possible, if i knew it was possible i wouldnt have asked. You all have to keep in mind that not everyone knows what you know in detail thats why people ask questions.
Thanks for the board lessons :) i will summon google god more from now on.
InvariantLoop: The trick is to ask your question correctly. Next time ask if anyone knows about a tutorial that they have actually read themselves. This way you avoid searching google and you avoid reading through tutorials that are difficult to read and have incorrect information. I posted a question similiar to yours except worded it differently and I got some extremely helpful responses. If you ask really general questions you are going to get really general answers like "search google" or "use the search function" and so on. It's just the way forums on the internet work. General questions result in general answers.
It kind of sucks because people should know by now that there is a 99% chance that telling someone to search google isn't really helping that person. Of course, they really don't know for sure(theres that 1%) unless you specify in your post that you have already searched google. So yes, it might help someone, but there is a slim chance it will. It's all about wording things correctly and asking questions correctly. I think I've been told to search google like twice. One time it annoyed me because my question was very specific and I specified that I had searched google. The other time it actually helped me because I had not thought of searching google for some bizarre reason, and what do you know, I searched google and found my answer:)
In the end, the moral is to ask specific questions:) I wouldn't worry about reputation points, who cares lol:)
Also I'm kind of curious, why do you want to learn those languages?
Im taking a class in college and the teacher told us that we will write the same 1 program in those languages. He will provide us with some code but if you dont know the basics of a language you wouldnt understand even a simple program. So as you see im actually trying to learn on my own more than what the teacher is asking us to do. Because this will help me to actually write that 1 program but at the same time understand what im doing. Instead of pasting code to various sections of the program and hope it works. The syntax and the grammar differs in each one so i need some tutorials to see how things are done in those languages, so when the time comes and i have to write the program i will understand what the code the teacher gave us does and what more i have to do to comeplete the said program.
> It kind of sucks because people should know by now that there is a 99% chance that telling someone to search google isn't really helping that person.
If the question is answered with a "google it" response, then 99% of the time the person doesn't deserve it anyways.
Perhaps the OP was under the impression that despite Google being an invaluable tool, that perhaps he trusted the opinions of the users here to help him cut through what sometimes amounts to pages upon pages of links. And perhaps narrow his search down to recommended or time tested/proven reliable resources.
Whether others may agree with that line of thinking or not, does that really merit thumping him with rep hits?
