Connecting the the internet

I would like to make a program that connect to the internet, but i can't find out how to do so.

i figured out how the program would run, but i dont know how to actually dial out.

Heres how i planned it:

on first running:
get the host name (aol, infoave, etc);
get the number;
get the user password;

then make a file with the information, connect, when connected, output the modems command things, like connected to host <hostname> etc, and recording that to a file for troubleshooting.

On second run, get the information from the file, if any errors, reenter;

do the same thing.

But for now i just want to connect to the internment and disconnect. can i do that in console mode?

I tried most of those, but they bring up the regular internet connection box that came with windows, and thats not what i want!

Then you should check out some low-level hardware communication stuff, wich may or may not work depending on your kernel. Still, search msdn. Something will come up.

if I'm not mistaken, I found a source codes to create a dial-up connection quite some time ago. Maybe you could surf around and get an idea out of it.
