Robotics
I want to get started with robotics: programming, assembly, stuff like that. Does anyone have any good sites for learning things like that, or maybe a site where I can buy pieces and such? The only good one I've found so far is Parallax, Inc. and the BASIC Stamp 2, but I've heard it comes up short in the memory department :( . So can anyone suggest good ones? Thanks all :D !

I don't know but that is a really cool site
-
Lego Mindstorms is great for beginner robotics.
-
I'm not too interested in that - not to mention the fact it costs more than what I'm planning to get now anyway.
-
Almost forgot - I would like to be able to program the robots in Java or C++, such as the Java subset Javelin that Parallax provides.

2 very good magazines are Nuts and Volts and Circuit Cellar. Circuit Cellar, at times can be very advance so be prepared anyway I like Nuts and Volts because it nicely (IMO) covers a wide range of electronic topics
www.nutsvolts.com
www.circuitcellar.com

check your local library friend. When I started building robots I picked up a variety of different books on robotics from my library. Have fun

look up the STAMP processors... they're programmable so your not stuck with firmware that you can't change... I think it's coded in BASIC tho...
-
Hehe, Parallax makes the BASIC Stamps :D . They can also be progammed in Javelin, a Java subset. Thanks for the suggestion though :D .

www.usfirst.com
I am in a robotics team at my high school, and it's pretty cool. We are in a league called FIRST, and it is pretty cool. You can find information at that link I gave above. If you go to www.innovationfirst.com you can find the processor we use. This year we can use PIC C for the programming, so that's pretty cool.

Thanks once again all :D .
EDIT: I would check that usfirst link frenchfry, it obviously isnt what you were aiming at (I hope :P ) .

Oops, wrong URL. I'm going to have to find the website :D. Thanks for the correction. I hope the innovation first link works right, I just visited a while back for some specs on the processor.
