Are you trying to make us sell the Gnome window manager to you?
Kind of. Ive heard of a couple of KDE vs GNOME disscusions, but there rarely about anything good(the whole qt license deal or looks). I just wanted to see if any one could mention something of some importance.

Is it really that hard to try it for yourself and see if you are comfortable with the system?
Im not asking about looks or speed, im asking about whats under the hood.

As for everything else im pretty sure you will find lots of information on the Gnome homepage, and if you are not satisfied with that you can dive right in on the source code.
I was hoping for a answer that was a little more impartial. Plus the code is over my head. Thats why i came here, I figure some one either can read the code or knows enough about to stand up for it(liek say it does have a nice api or something).

I'm pretty sure that's the best answer you are going to get, this is almost like asking "what distro is the best of all times."
Im hoping this will be the first time people talk about the technical reasons and not which looks pretty and which is slow.

Personally I prefer Fluxbox, both KDE and Gnome seem a bit bloated to me...
I dont think i could stand those kind of 'desktops'. To me, thats a windows manager and kde/gnome is a desktop, its supposed to come with more if you have decent hardware. I might try them, but I doubt ill make a switch.
