Subdomains
If i'm hosting www.aaa.com on my home computer,
could I create an unlimited number of subdomains (www.sub.aaa.com) ?
and would I have to register them with a dns or something ?
or would the computer hosting aaa.com redirect you ?
i.e. to get to www.sub.aaa.com would the routing be:
www.sub.aaa.com ---> www.aaa.com ---> www.sub.aaa.com
...just in theory, i'm no server admin...[surprised, right ?]

It depends on who you registered aaa.com with. Some registrars allow you to have subdomains, and some don't.

... and some charge for letting you do it.

ok, interesting...
but if I make sub.aaa.com, will the request first go to aaa.com ?
(ie. will aaa.com act like a nameserver and sent the surfer to wherever I put sub.aaa.com ?)
---
I'd have to enter sub.aaa.com in the pc hosting aaa.com's DNS and IIS correct ? (would the host's file make due?)
because if this is true (which i'm not sure of),
how would the registrar know your hosting a subdomain ?

No. The request will go to the DNS server, then to sub.aaa.com.
