I write "colour" since I am oficially taught British English in my Swedish school.
Definitely colour... If for no other reason, then because Govtcheez says it isn't.
We invented the damn language and we say COLUR

Yup, we invented it and gave it to you to use, not abuse.
Hang on, what if we only leased it to you in USA?
Maybe we could call the language back to repair it for you.
:)
Americans don't speak English. We speak AMERICAN talk! We have 2 different main languages. Northern and Southern. I know both.
Hang on... if you recall it, what'll we do while its in the shop? Speak esperanto?
I'm with "color", because it's a letter less than "colour", and it looks better!!!
But the thing I hate the most is "PROGRAMME"!!!!It's worse than "colour"
You didn't give it to us. WE TOOK IT! Bastards.
Color.
As if I didnt need to ask...which sob changed my post?
Actually, American Enlgish was purposely changed just to spite the English. True story.
Don't be so quick to point fingers. It wasn't me.Quote:

hm, let me think...
System.Drawing.Color red = Color.Red;
In my school we were taught both versions and we could pick individually which we used. However, any mixing was a mistake.
i.e. favorite colour = one mistake no matter how you twist it...
colour suckzzzz
I have to write colour, when I do my English homework.....
heh, there are some teachers who still want it.... lol
BUT
COLOR RULEZ
And all programming languages use COLOR
COLOR RULEZ THE WORLD :D

No, no.
While it is the shop being fixed, we shall provide you with a slightly altered version. It is difficult to understand and comprehend but it will get you through.
We call it English v0.03, street name SCOTTISH.
:)
Really? Know anything about that story, i'd be interested to hear why they seemingly selected a random group of words to change.Quote:

Aluminum and Aluminium always puzzled me.
Oh and obviously the answer is coloUr!!
Well it wasn't just the o/ou debate, the also converted a lot of z's to s's, and I believe while making deals with the French, we agreed to include some French words, which makes me laugh when I hear the English use the word culdersac.
I never knew it was spelled like that.. And who really cares how its spelled anyhoo?Quote:

I hate to burst the fun of international language bickering, but American English and British English (along with Irish, Scots, Australian, New Zealand, South African, etc.) equally have claim to being the English language because languages change over time. It is nonsense to claim the American and Canadian dialects are not English because these dialects developed from genuine English dialects brought over from England, Scotland, and Ireland. It is true that the American dialects have evolved in their own ways somewhat, but so have the dialects spoken in the British Isles.
If you really want to go back, English was brought to England because Germanic colonists settled there from what is now the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and elsewhere. Time and poorer communications have, however, allowed English to become signicantly different from the languages where it originated. The differences between the various English dialects are comparitively smaller.
English English rules.
English English is redundant... Anything else is a contradiction.
and the scrore is:
Color 25 Colour 13
looks like Colour is losing this one badly!
b.t.w. did you know you could write "colore" and still pronounce it color! hmmm... interesting!!!! :D
Well of course 'color' is winning! What do you think this is - cprogramming.co.uk?! :D
That's not suprising considering the audience of this forum, I don't think. Besides, who really cares anymore :)Quote:

What's the big deal? I rarely use that word anyways. But anyways, it's color ;)
The debate is pointless, we've talked about it enough, the poll is now closed and so is this thread.
