I got tired of the XP theme and switched back to the classic Windows look.
XP's styles aren't bad, but I personally run StyleXP, and I use a custom skin.
It's nice and I like it...
It doesn't hurt the eyes...
XP is ok, but w/ everything turned on, it's a bit resource hungry. Just like X w/ Linux.
I never saw the need to use XP. It's just 2K with fancy, superfluent colors and shapes. Child's play. I'll directly switch to 2003 when the client comes out.

I did the same, but only after the themes werent working well with PhotoShop.
After a while you just get used to the classic theme again...
Nice appearance, cant believe it hurts peoples eyes.
Nice and stable too.
What more can you ask for?
I'm sorry, but I really hate it when people judge XP by it's looks. THE LOOKS CAN BE CHANGED!
I use XP for it's extreme stability, and all around general goodness. A few years ago 2000 was really not a very good option, few game developers made things for it, but now since XP is based on 2000, a lot of stuff is 'backwards compatible'. 2000 with service pack 3 is probably a better choice now for a lot of people that need more flexibilty from their OS than XP, which is of course a more consumer based product than bussiness based.
At any rate, on the visual side of things I use styleXP with the Mac OSX theme. It's a good mix between full out XP style, and classic style. Still uses shades of grey, but better looking :)
I think the default style is quite ugly. It is a good deal more stable than previous Windows systems though (2000, 98, etc). Still, I prefer IRIX or Linux.
i would DIE without the recover thing.....that's why i use XP....i use styleXP with GONDOR.. it's looks preety good! + XP is VERY stable...crached only a couple times on me, but it was my fault so i'm not complaining!
I like it, but I'm using the silver one instead of the default blue.
As with several others, I have it switched to Windows Classic and most of the special effects turned off.
I have been disappointed by the stability of XP, I seem to have more OS related problems with the XP box I'm typing on now, than the '95 box that is sitting beside it. I don't understand why, my NT4 boxes just run and run.
Recovery takes space on your system. Alternatively, you could always use Norton Ghost for backup.Quote:

I like the silver style of XP. But I am also disappointed with the stability. It constantly freezes. It comes back again after between 2 and 30 seconds of being frozen but when really bad it can freeze 2 or 3 times just whilst trying to open IE.
