Help building a local network... Problems with the printers
I am helping my friend setting a network in his new office,
He has 12 computers, with 4 Network printers.
1. One computer : server Win2000 server.
2. two computers: stations has WinXP on them.
3. the rest are stations with windows 98.
4. 2 printers Hp 4050N.
5. 2 Printers Brother 2010 N
No internet, Local network.
What is the best IP address to be optain in this network.
I have choose :
IP: 192.168.0.X
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: ??? I am not using DHCP.
How could I put the IP address for these printers.
How could I control the printers: I am trying to use the jet admin, but I think they should have an IP address first....
What should we do.?
Thanx for your help.
Have you use Network printer before

I would use xxx.xxx.xxx.100 - 199 for comps 200+ for printers. I would use 255 as the Server address.
Thanx for your replay ... but if the printer has a network card why doen't need a a LPT com.?
This will not solve our problem.
