high speed? Wow
Did the people in UK know, that for an extra ten quid a month you can now increase broadband speed from 512k to 1MB/s.!
Its twice as fast as BT broadband!!
Does any1 have this speed...downloads must be like rockets.!
Can you get (or is it the norm) in other countries.?
edit-oh crap I meant to say obviously it is cable.

I have the 512k cable, haven't bothered upgrading yet. Most of the high volume downloading I do is peer-peer, so the d/l speed is slow anyway, because the user at the other end is slow at uploading
But I have mates who run 1mb, and they say it's greaattt!

I have cable ISP in the US. My alleged connection is 256, they offer up to 1.5 mb for more money.
Rarely get max speeds, sometimes much less, but still much faster than dial up. Wouldn't go back.

Downloads are only ever as fast as the average speed of the net paths between you and the server. Increasing the speed of your link to the net will only show a speed increase if that happened to be the slowest element. In general, there is a diminishing returns factor when upping your line. Here, ADSL can be requested at 2M/2M but I don't know anyone who has bothered.

You can request a 2mb/s connection..? F&^% me! Really?
Can you get 2MB/s connection anywhere else?

I've had high speed cable for the last 5 years already.

my univ. used to have 10 mbps. they upgraded it to 100mbps

I still have dial up, witch disconected well I was talking to someone. It wouln't let me back online and now I have to wait to talk to them again. :( :(

recalled those dial days with a 56k modem. oh~:o

I just read today in PC World magazine that you can go from a 128 Kb connection to a 256 Kb (or was it 256 to 512? Can't remember) for only $1 more! To bad $26 is still out of my price range :( $10 a month for dial-up is ok for now.

Yes, this is one of the ADSL providers in Denmark...
http://privat.tiscali.dk/adsl/
... it's in Danish of course, but if you look in the window on the left you can see their standard options, and the last option "Sammensæt selv" basically allows you to pick your own.
There are other ADSL providers but Tiscali's web site is easier to navigate!
