Starwars
This is one of my farorite movies. The DVD of Episode I is comming out next month. It contains 5-6 hrs of content.
I liked episodes 4-6 thus far more than episode I because the storyline in episode I was weak. Some of the animation and effects were great in episode I. I thought Liam Neeson, Ray Park, and Jake Lloyd and the return cast did a good job. Natalie Portman was a little dry in terms of character compared to Carrie Fisher (or Liea). I hope episode II is well writen. Now before thinking about that we still have 'Lord Of The Rings' to deal with. Now I am waiting anxiously for that one too. In terms of fantasy I have found that books are much better than movies. Perhaps this film will rival the books. For me starwars episodes 4-6 fit in at a perfect time in my life as a kid. The terrorists will not stop starwars. If they do than I'll pick up a rifle and plead with the USA to fly me to Afghanistan as a commando and just drop me in, I'll parachute into the middle of Bin Lauden's tea party.
Sure Episode I was not perfect but I haven't given up on Lucas. Some of the visual effects went to his head. I don't know the purpose of Jar Jar Binks. Oh well, maybe it will all fit together. It was really great seeing starwars again after 14 or so years. That was special. That's why I went 5-6 times. It was good to relive some memories.

*Apparently* there is an edited version of Episode I on the internet which has completely removed Jar Jar, making the movie 20 mins shorter.

Edited version?! No Jar Jar! ::swoon::
Never!!

Jar Jar is definately necessary. How else could the Jedi's have found the Gungan city and formed an alliance? I think he is a necessary character for the story, but I though he was a little too silly for Star Wars. I don't think that was all necessary. Do you?

That would be interesting to see the copy with Jar Jar edited out. No, I guess the story line would not make sense but since I already know the story line it might be okay. Someone should send that copy to George Lucas.

Jar Jar really ruined Episode one for me... I don't need computer animated comic relief in one of the coolest stories in history. I sure hope that 2 & 3 are a little stronger in that respect. I still own the VHS... and I am going to get the DVD... but it doesn't mean I wasn't ........ed about the stupidiy of Jar Jar. ;)
Oh and Lord of the Rings should be awesome... I can't wait either.

I have to agree with Betazep. I'm sure there was another way to show the Jedi's and Naboo the Gungan city. Did they have to use a stupid character such as Jar Jar? He just didn't fit into the seriousness that Star Wars really is.
Despite the stupidity of Jar Jar, any Star Wars fan can not help but enjoy Episode I. We may not have liked is as much as 4, 5, and 6, but it is part of the series.
Do you think they'll continue after Episode 6 (if they redo it...again)? I don't think so. But, if they don't, I don't know what they'll do. The day that Star Wars dies will have to be the end of the world.
Long live Star Wars!
