My first game C++ game

Well really its my first VC++ program but whats the diffrence between friends?

Its a simple game like the snake game you find on mobile phones its quite fun for all of 5 seconds. It reads each level from a file (#.dat) and places the walls from the position of the 'X's in the file. The number after it is the timer interval i.e. smaller for faster.
In the game use arrow keys to change direction, press P to pause and Esc to exit.

I would have put the sorce up but im not sure which files are needed.

CodeMonkey if you think its too fast edit the files like #.dat in notpad, change the timer interval at the bottom.

Wow, excellent game man! What did ya use to make it? Allegro? That might be a good idea for me to try.

Jupp to fast... you should time the movement of the snake so that it is eaqual fast on all computers. Its fairly simple to do, and its used in all major games.

something like this:

I see that your snake move one square each time, so you would have to do something like this:

Ok, due to not so popular demand here's the source.

As i said already if you feel the game is to fast just change the number at the bottom of the level file i.e. 1.dat, 2.dat ect. This will change the timer interval.

I think i have included all the files that you need but i wouldn't bet on it. Also please note this is my first VC++ program and i havent tided up the code yet.

But then how did u make all the animations and display the graphics? Did u use api instead? Or what technique? Pls tell me i really wanna learn, i am keen.

All i used was the Windows Api i.e. BitBlt, GetWindowDC, CreateCompatibleDC, LoadBitmap and SelectObject.

The reason i used these is that this is what i would have used if i where programming it in VB (Hint - VBprogrammer). Have a look at source, i posted it last night.

ninebit i dont think this is necessary as my program works off a windows timer, so as long as it is an almost desent processor it should run at the same speed. I have tried it on diffrent computers (from a IBM 230Mhz to a Dual 1.2Ghz athlon system) and they all run about the same speed.

Did any of you have a look at the code? Just wondering if it breaks any C++ unwriten do's and don'ts!

Make it so it doesn't pop up an annoying box when you die, having to go from the keyboard to the mouse all the time gets tiring (in other word I crash into the walls a lot).

You should get rid of the "magic numbers."

I am looking at the code and I see stuff like

BitBlt(WindowDC,((x * 28)+4),((y * 28) + 24),28,28,StuffpicDC,56,0,SRCCOPY);

How am I supposed to know the signifigance of the numbers 28, 24, 56, etc?

Thanks i'll change that, when i programmed this i didn't know how to use #define CellSize 28 ect. so i didnt use it!
