Never found any good stuff at Rentacoder. Seems mostly a bunch of students wanting homework done for $5. Or spammers wanting email harvesters ect. Stopped using the site when I saw people getting a project, then re-releasing them for less (ie You want a app written and choose my bid, I then offer the project again but for less money and skim the differnce) .
Just tried ITMoonlighters. Unless you pay them $70 can't search, no projects matched my skillset (WIN32 API, MFC, C, Sockets, Image processing ect, ect, ect). I have extensive experience but can't input it and have it taken into account. Realy the employer chooses not the programmer, plus you pay ten percent to the site. Seems to want local area talent only, which seems strange for an internet site.
Have you tried them?
No I haven't tried them yet. I thought they would be a good way to expand my portfolio but after looking around I got to the same conclusion as you. On rent a coder ,as you said. there is a bunch of students buying there homework and people from the third world are doing it for 10-20$ and that is for fairly big projects. So my conclusion there is that people from India are doing the homework for lazy American CS kids, scary thought. As you said about IT moolighter you can't get any good search result if you don't pay and I have a strong fealing that it is the same pricing and tasks there as it is on rentacoder. I guess all that means is that I can just continue to work on my own private fun projects instead of making 2$/h
If you do find a pot of gold at the end of he rainbow though, let me know.
