It's terrible. Put it on the right but not at the left where my mouse is so used to clicking on the results.

I know, I've been trying to get rid of the damn thing since it first appeared this afternoon and I can't find a setting to turn it off.
But I don't think they'll put it on the right side where their precious ads reside. Just give me back the hide button. I rarely use the damn thing.
What is the point of that crap anyways? It's incredibly annoying and wastes horizontal space...
On the plus side, I can refine my image searches by color now.
One was able to do that before. Believe it or not, that was useful for me once. I was looking for a orange checker pattern.
So much for their minimalist interface. Didn't they pride themselves at one point on having a sparse search page, even going so far as to take the copyright notice or something off to add a new feature?
If they really want to improve it, let me do regex searches and when I put something in quotes, search for EXACTLY what's in the quotes.
Annoying indeed. I suppose a stylish or greasemonkey script with Firefox should do the trick at home.
I like it. The days of only showing "ten blue links" are over. If google doesn't evolve other companies will start eating away at their market share (as Bing has already started too).
20 on my case. You can change it in preferences. But I see your point.
But... you know, if the Altavista of old is the new way for Google and even Altavista is today like Google, isn't this sidebar some sort of regression? And if you call this evolution, can it be that Altavista was right after all and Google was wrong after all?
Anyways, all I want is a hide button. They can keep the sidebar. And if all else fails, I'm back to dogpile.
This is not due to an interface issue. Bing has much more TV and magazine advertising than Google. Plain and simple Google is getting beat in advertising.Quote:

I think some people will like it, but it needs a hide button so that those of us who don't like it can go on in peace.
Actually, this lame new layout may have me switching to bing.
Okay, kidding.
But the new logo is HORRIBLE. What is that font? And the new buttons. Eww. Come on, who did they hire to do the designing, a blind guy?
Though I've had the change several weeks ago. Maybe people from my country were part of the less fortunate...
Considering the cash and resources at their disposal, they are extremely deficient in the UI prettiness dept. I think someone comes up with ideas, then these are handed off to some specially trained dolphin they keep in a big tank mounted with Wii gear, who indicates by barking and shooting water out of the top of his head how the drag n' drop should happen.
Today I noticed a handy new addition to my igoogle page:
"Show this page every time I start to browse the web. Make iGoogle my homepage!"
Considering you have to have an account to use igoogle, what the heck is the point of this "You've never used a computer or browsed the web before! Welcome!" type information?
Ok, others have been working on this too.
Here's how to remove the new Google nonsense bar. Good riddance!
No for that you need lynx.
Lynx Browser | Text Browsers | Image Free Web Browser
I like it. I never knew how to limit the dates of search results before. Now I can do it easily.
It sits good on the left side since horizontal space is never a problem.
You know what they say: take the kermits with the cheese!
Maybe it is useful! I dunno yet, but I would say I would consider being upset by this as qualifying you for a serious stimulant and or serotonin reuptake inhibitor prescription.
I'm fiddling with a fix on that right now. I'm guessing you might be able to edit the C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\google.xml file then you might be able to do it. If someone knows how to code, it looks like the right thing to edit. So I'm guessing just about everyone here is smarter than me, and thus should be able to make a fix if it's possible. Just be nice and show me what to do haha
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. ........
They changed it... That "old" URL doesn't work anymore :(
Here check this website out. I just tested it, and it works.
