What is a file manager?
Hi,
In linux, or in general, what is a file manager?
I just downloaded linux so i'm new. What is a window manager and what does it do? i know sawfish is an example. Are there many of these ones?

Hey man calm down!!! I was only asking, sheesh. It occurred to me that you may get a better damned answer there.

Sawfish is a window manager. It manages how the windows appear and organizes them for you. A file manager is something like Nautilus or Konqueror. (Explorer in Windows) Basically, it's a graphical program that lets you open files by clicking and rename files, move them around etc.
