Disable tabs in vc++
I just recently switched from Dev-C++ to VC++, and I already like it better, but there are a couple things:
1. I was able to disable Dev's auto-tabbing feature, and cause it to use spaces instead. How do I do that in VC++?
2. Also, when I build (F7) the program isn't automatically launched like it is in Dev, is there a way I can cause VC to do this?
-
1. Tools -> Options. Then select Text Editor -> All languages -> Tabs from the tree pane.
2. F5

You may also want to set it to use spaces instead of tabs.
-
Set it to use tabs! Tabs are better! *braces for a tabs vs. spaces flame war*
-
F5 is usually the shortcut to "start debugging". If you just want to run the program normally, you should use Ctrl+F5 instead. Of course, if there's no breakpoint in your source code, the result will be the same, except that it might be a little bit faster to launch and that the window doesn't automatically close when the program terminates.

Tabs are horrid during merges.

Use whatever you feel is right, I think, is the answer.
Everyone has their own thoughts on what's best.
-
It doesn't matter if you use spaces or tabs, as long as you don't use them together.
-
No, I set it to use 3 whitespace characters indentation before post 2. Tabs suck!

that doesn't make them right.

-
Aw, your just to lazy to push your indentation key more than once.
-
Yeah, and I'm too lazy to push backspace more than once.
-
Why don't you just disable that feature in your ide?
-
The point was that it doesn't matter if you use spaces or tabs. It's a matter of preference.
I retorted with spaces suck just because you replied with tabs suck after Magos was kind enough to teach that it doesn't matter what you pick as long as you don't mix them.
