Just for your information
The first 13 bands/singers I enjoy lising to
Number 14 is there so rick has something to vote for
Number 15 is there because I they need to be commbined to be 1/zillionth as good as any one from above.
Hmmm.... I'll pick.... oh wait - they almost all suck.... I'll pick nobody.
>Hmmm.... I'll pick.... oh wait - they almost all suck.... I'll pick nobody.<
So who does not suck, and why do the rest suck?
> they almost all suck <
In my opinion, they all suck.
>So In my opinion, they all suck.
So who do you like?
=w=eezer are the only decent band on that list.
ps - Norman Cook (aka FatBoy Slim) is a DJ not a singer or a band
Every band listed, sucks. Yes, that's right...
Limp Bizkit? Eh, pathetic.
Nirvana is the best band... Simple_as_that.
Speaking of Nirvana--See Signature.
Speaking of Nirvana, you could've added the Foo Fighters to that poll!
>Nirvana is the best band... Simple_as_that.
Notice how it says currant not off all time.
>ps - Norman Cook (aka FatBoy Slim) is a DJ not a singer or a band<
Ok someone edit my post and replace band/singer with
band/singer/dj
Doesn't matter. I didn't say to put them up there.
I said every band you listed sucks. Which they do.
I just stated the fact that Nirvana is the best
band ever. And yeah, [stealth] is right, you
could've added Foo Fighters...
-1/4 or Nirvana is better than no Nirvana-
Do you perhaps mean current?Quote:
currant
Incidently, I don't really like currants all that much to be honest.
>. And yeah, [stealth] is right, you
could've added Foo Fighters... <
I missed them alright, anyways I took up all 15 spots already.
Govtcheez please add Foo Fighters.
>Do you perhaps mean current?
Yeah yeah
<jokes>Well it's just not bloody good enough!</jokes>
> Incidently, I don't really like currants all that much to be honest. <
Perhaps the question should be, what is your favorite currant eating band. ;)
weezer all the way. ::gives the 'rock on' sign::
Mark Knopfler.
Current album - Sailing to Philadelphia
otherwise known for his great work with Dire Straits (Money for Nothing).
My brother's got me hooked on the new Nickelback Cd too.
>>> Current album - Sailing to Philadelphia
That is a good album isn't it. I was never a fan, but I bought that for my wife, and have listened to it many times myself. Even the songs I don't particulaly like have some detail about them which makes then worth listening to.
And I agree with a few others in this thread, "non of the above".
you guys are a bunch of whining babies... I personally listen to almost all of those bands. Nirvana... blow it where the sun don't shine. Yeah... they had good music.. but their leader was a crack addict and blew his own brains out... yeah, great leader... good image for the kids.
I perfer soundtracks, but just orchestra, no singing.
Example: The Patriot, Starwars, The Mummy, etc
>>> you guys are a bunch of whining babies
... and that is an adult comment?
Those are all excellent... but you have to have a wide range of musical taste... I listen to country too.. classical is reserved for paper-writing and hardcore studying.
I guess what I listen to depends largely on what I'm doing.
I own a couple of the CDs up there (Sum 41, Disturbed, and Linkin Park) and the only one of them I really like is Linkin Park. Great coding music...
Right now I'm listening to Coldplay. I normally listen to either that, Dave Matthews, Tool, Radiohead, or the radio.
I still don't get Nirvana (sorry static...). Their music was okay, but was never anything special to me... I don't own any flannels.
adrianxw-
Knopfler's other solo disc is very good as well. "Golden Heart."
That's the one that got me really hooked on him.
The music I generally prefer to listen to is instrumental but I agree that it's good to have a broad taste in music. Most of the bands in the poll are great at what they do. However, a great deal of music is commercial now (i.e. boy and girl bands) while the best musicians are playing in small venues and are hard to hear about.
playing right now:
Only the strong - Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
(from the mazda commercial)
adrianxw... yeah, put me behind a keyboard and I turn into a real bastard sometimes. go figure. just because you're 21 doesn't mean you're an adult.... or act like one all the time. :p

Kurt wasn't a crack-addict, he was addicted to
heroin. Good image for kids? Why would anybody
listen to music based on whether or not the
songwriter was a 'good image for kids?'
crack/heroin... what's the difference?
so you think that it was perfectly normal for him to be a heroin addict and make a nationally televised event out of his own suicide? What kind of message do you think that sends? And if he acted like most artists do today on stage, would you let your kids go to their concerts?
maybe none of this bothers you because either you don't care or you're involved in it yourself, but we're going to end up surrounded by a bunch of burnt out hippies like our parents generation because people don't have self control and they "go with the flow", to use a cliche.........
wow... how did I end up on that??? *psycho tangent for the day*
Argh... damn you for making me choose between foo fighters and linkin park. :flips a coin: well linkin park it is. Some of the bands up there are decent but other than lp and foo fighters none of them are great

event. The press did. I don't think he had much
control over the press after he was dead...
I have plenty of self-control, baby.Quote:

James Kochalka Superstar
METALLICA!!!! with Lincoln Park close behind.
rick barclay
umm... you mean linkin park, right? :)

Yeah some of them are very good. What do you think of the one from the ending from gundam wing endess waltz. I upload it so everyone can enjoy
>Those are all excellent... but you have to have a wide range of musical taste... I listen to country too.. classical is reserved for paper-writing and hardcore studying.<
I don't like coutry so I don't care about it. And I find classical annoying.
>. I normally listen to either that, Dave Matthews, Tool, Radiohead, or the radio. <
Damit I forgot Dave Mathews how could I.
Some notes:
I find it disutubing no one here enjoys alicia keys.
Also the names I choose came off the top of my head so thre is no apolige there.
Finaly you have to aggre with me that everything listed (exept junk) is much greater then junk.
I don't. I'd much rather listen to N*Sync thanQuote:

Limp Bizkit. I hate them soooo much.
Danny Elfman is my favorite movie-soundtack composer,
followed by that one guy who did Jurassic Park and
Titanic (John Williams, Joe Williams... Eh, I
can't remember). I love the Titanic soundtrack.
Uillean pipes are so beautiful. I wanted to
learn how to play them, but they're so expensive.
Alicia Keys is a dork. Stupid girl. Stupid, stupid
girl. Ooh, that reminds me. I like Garbage too..
>I perfer soundtracks, but just orchestra, no singing.

yeah! like FF8!!!
personally i don't listen to any of the bands listed... besides foo fighters and weezer... my bands would be STP, Soundgarden, [yes Nirvana, even if i haven't listened to In Utero or Wishkah in the past three months.......], and so forth. but i also like all kinds of other stuff which wouldn't particularly fit in here...
personally [again] i don't really like the way the sound has changed. i suppose the lyrical content i'm looking for [like that of grunge] is still present, but i think a lot of it is delivered in the wrong context. when was it ever grunge to try to sound too over-the-top? not that this stuff is grunge, in fact... but that's my opinion.
anyway, i suppose that's culture for ya, it changes, you don't understand it anymore, you cling maybe... etc etc etc...
For those of you that have talked about soundtracks - I suggest either the Rock, Starship Troopers, or the score from The Matrix (if you can find it)... Those are all quality...
orr... what about Gladiator... or Pearl Harbor (which wasn't all that great, but ok) or BRAVEHEART... one of the best ever, at least classical-wise... Mortal Kombat has an excellent soundtrack too.
Me First an the Gimmie Gimmies
They rock :)
Plus Soundtracks and Metallica, esp. S&M.
Gladiator and StarshipTroopers are good ones. The Rock is great,
too. The Mummy. Part 1 & 2. Superb.
All definitely suck in my opinion.
Marillion,
Marillion,
Marillion,
Marillion,
Marillion,
Marillion.
S&M is good by Metallica.
>you mean linkin park, right? <
That's the way you spell it? Oh. They sound better than they
spell.
rick barclay
There's actually a whole history behind that... their origional name was Hybrid Theory... the title of their debut album... however, since they were releasing the album nearly the same time that Limp Bizkit was, they changed the name to put the cd next to LB's on the shelves... figuring people would find them when looking for the LB cd(s). I think the name is probably either something made up or maybe something local to them!?
<booming voice> INCUBUS! Omg, how could you forget them? I'm DLing incubus skins as we speak...can't wait til October 23rd!!
And there's a concert here on October 8th or s/t, I might go to that...
Ah music,
I now feel more on a par with you people .
(I am new to c++ programming)
I teach guitar and play in a band for a living and as a consequence I get to here loads of new bands .
Getting away from Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park but in a similar kind of vein try 'Black Label Society' or 'Pearl Jam'
Also i know its older stuff but you gotta check out
'Black Sabbath' and ' Led Zeppelin'
Another band making it big in the U.K. are 'Muse'
If that stuff is too heavy do yourself a favour and have a listen to some early 'David Bowie ' or 'Stevie Wonder'
dont just listen to music record companies force down your neck.
see ya!
Okay, I am suitably disturbed.
Still in my teens and I have only actually heard of three of those on that short list.
...and not one of those is any good either.
All of the above bands suck major ass.My top 10:
10.Edguy
9.Hammerfall
8.Grave Digger
7.Kamelot
6.Iced Earth
5.Judas Priest
4.Iron Maiden
3.Blind Guardian
2.Yngwie Malmsteen
1.Stratovarius
Wow.... This thread was dead, and now it's back... Hmm....
