i think mods should make a separate home work help section. any takers?
I don't think it's a good idea, because then there would be a board which mixes all different programming languages.
why "mixes all different programming languages" ?
i have never seen someone come here asking for home work help in Java. lol haha lol
Why?
It would only create yet more confusion.
Would a lost noob post their C++ windows homework on
- the C++ forum
- the windows forum
- the homework forum
Homework per se isn't the problem, so long as it's posted with some effort.
exactly.
confusion is the main concern here.
see newbies learning stuff post there queries all over. and it is hard to find serious stuff posted by experienced members.
a separate home work section will limit them, will encourage them, and will make them comfortable.
No one is against helping out people who post their homework questions if they show some effort and i think the current C / C++ forum works well for everything. Plus if you see, most of the queries are put up by people who are learning programming as a hobby, the homework forum will be another dead one like the general AI board.
ok. never mind those who think the idea is bad. lol.
but seriously i felt that too many tiny problems are spamming (kinda) the board.
and serious stuff gets out of sight very fast. and we see gurus insisting over and over again to make sure main return int. haha. lol.
oops! this lolol has made me lol a lot.
if mods threaten for a BAN. i will edit all my posts and remove "lol" :(
Threaten for a BAN? Was that a joke. Why would any of us insist on a ban here?
Anyways I'm against the homework forum b/c then we would have yet another forum to move posts to/from. I'm rather convinced we could have a forum called Cars and people would post questions about Jets on it.
One more forum would not clean the board up by any means. We have a solution in place for the common questions. It's called the FAQ but the problem seems to be that people do not read it. Since there is no way to force them we have to repeat a lot of the FAQ material in posts.
I think most of us have become accustomed to it and don't see a need to address the issue.
I hope you didn't take my post elsewhere as a threat; I apologize if you did. I had just noted that you had picked up the mannerism there, and wanted to call your attention that you were answering other people's questions with "haha lol", which is perhaps not what you wanted to do.
