I had a window pop up showing me the contents of my hard drive almost like My Computer except it was in an Internet Explorer window. It said Anti-SpyWare not installed or something.
Should I be worried?
Barjor, are you really 7 1/2 years old? ( if so, that's nuts )
That's such BS - it might be the first real use for the DMCA, though... Surely a program that deletes programs it doesn't like constitues tampering....
No I am not 7.5. I am 32. The 7.5 was a satirical coment to someone else on the board. Actually it is time to change but I am not sure to what.

How about, hey everybody! I'm 32 :D
It really doesn't feal like I control my own puter anymore. MS Claim that .NET will take care of many of these issues but sense everything needs to be back compatible I can't see the light in the tunnel.
The article made a good point I think. The spyware is becoming more like a virus. I think I'd rather have a virus, at least I know it'll just crash my computer and be done with it (no hidden motives).
What's the difference between the latest spyware and trojan horses? Sort of the same concept aren't they. They both run on your computer without your knowledge, send information about you or use your system for their bidding, and they both tag along with software that you install.
Why doesn't the government start going after these companies like they do crackers. I'm beginning to think that crackers have more morals than these kinds of companies.
mmmm conspiracy theries.......
they are all watching me all the time...
infamy, infamy....they've all got it in for me !!!!!
We are no longer 'customers' we are 'potential qualified up's'.
Worth about $1 each for our details.
Companies buy our details to direct market to us, even better if they know what we like.
If you can't sell your code, because any protection is cracked within 5mins, how do small software companies make money?
If you have pirated software or music or video on your PC, stop complaining, because indirectly it is your fault.
Is it any different to you phoning a shop, they have caller ID so they can record your phone number, and send you mail or phone back later?
Don't like it, PAY for your software and avoid the Malware.
There is just one spy-ware all spy-aware removers can't remove...
Microsoft 2000/XP
You know how much info they send out when you are connected?
When you go to windows update Do you really believe that no infomation is being sent?
In that case, you need the ultimate spy-ware remover: LinuxQuote:

On a similar theme, i'd be interested in why every site you visit on the internet is recorded where its hard to delete it ???
its not such a bad idea actually, since who cares if youve nothing to hide ?????
but i'd like to know why it does it ???
>>On a similar theme, i'd be interested in why every site you visit on the internet is recorded where its hard to delete it ???
Yea, at your ISP. Checked their privacy policy on your info lately? My details and habits are worth money to someone (or why else would they collect it).
To take it without my consent is stealing.
at your ISP as well ???
and also its all recorded in your PC i understand....somewhere where you can't delete it. i wondered what on earth is the motive behind doing that ??
i was thinking more about say paedophiles etc, when i said that if youve nothing to hide youve nothing to worry about.....
Gary Glitter was caught when he took his PC into Dixons for repair !!
but yeah, it is a bit nosy, its none of anyones business but yours, true....
ive filled in lots of "consumer surveys" recently, being unemployed and hoping to win a car etc !!
so now i'm inundated with spammy junkmail, and people ringing me up....i wish i hadn't bothered !!
Funny how I got billions of junk mail and email ever since that day I first went to college.... and my little brother who is just about finished with high school is now getting 1000's of letters from colleges he never heard of (or wanted to hear from) hmm....
don't you see, novacain is entirly correct on this: we're a victim of our own grasping desire. how many times do you gripe about paying taxes, but then swear at the potholes in the street. or my fav, whining at the pharmaceuticle companies for making too much money and then buying thier stock to get rich. well, the world may be at our finger tips in more ways than we anticipated. :digs hole, crawls inside, covers with rock:
They didin't hack into your computer or anything. That can easily be done in a few languages. I know that javascript can be used to make a page that looks like the current "web style" my computer. VBscript could probably also be used because visual basic can also be used in that way. None of this is server based, so unless some client program or cookies send info back to the server, you have nothing to worry about.Quote:

So, to answer your question, you dont have to be afraid. They aren't actually taking advantage of the *many* security holes there are in browsers. Its just a trick to get you to download their software.
oh and i wonder who that was...Quote:

you are as lame as a fricken truck load of murdered babies
Geez, who said it was you? I for one did not think he was referring to me, while I am closer in age to 7.5 then 32 [I'm 17]... should I be offended as well?
Yes, I guess I'll just start calling Barjor names and compare him to "fricken truck load of murdered babies"... that's it :)
