I've used java loads and was able to use the inbuilt socket classes to do stuff such as connect to websites, how does one do this in C++?
I can not find any standard c++ libraries to do it, do I have to download 3rd parties libraries?

Socket communication is dependent on your operating system. You'll need to either find some sort of generic socket wrapper library, or look up the details for your OS.
