    Question Timing-out problem

This is more of a hypothetical question, but I've got this slight problem. I have dial-up (and I h8 it), and my connection to my ISP keeps on timing out after 2 hours, when I'm downloading updates or something rite, so I was wondering, would it be possible to stop the connection from timing out until the end of the download, or do you need access to the ISP to stop the timing-out?

What do you mean exactly by timing out, and what does this have to do with programming? I think this topic would have fit better into the tech. help forum.

By timing-out, I mean that the connection between my computer and my ISP is lost, I can't think of a better way to put it. I was wondering if the problem could be solved by a small program. And ur rite, this thread does belong in the tech message board, I wasnt really thinking straight when I posted it

I know some ISP's will drop (thats the term I use) the connection if its idle for too long, or after a specific amount of time/traffic. I would suggest talking to them first, to see if their is a problem with the connection, or if they do drop connections periodicly.
