    File sharing?

I am currently trying to get my router (D-Link DI-604) to replace my old 4 port hub. My desktop is running Win2k Pro my laptop is running WinXP Pro. I ran my cable connection through the router and I can share the internet connection effortlessly!

I can't share files between to the two computers. I've turned on file sharing. I have also enabled pinging on the lan side of the router but not the wan side, which is working. When I had the hub I could easily share files but couldn't get ICS to work. Am I doing something wrong?

If I can ping both computers shouldn't I just be able to 'find' the computer by name? I've tried using 'find' through windows explorer and also at the command prompt to no avail.

Just in case someone runs into a similar problem I thought I'd post my solution.

In local security settings on my XP box under:
Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts.

It was set up as Guest only-local users authenticate as Guest. Sounds fine and dandy except I had disabled the Guest account! So I changed it to: Classic-local users authenticate as themselves.

Now it all works correctly! I thought I'd never get it up and running.
