You need
- a desktop PC
- a laptop
- a cross-over cable
network 2 computers
Then you just set up a windows share between them and you're all set
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

To use a crossover cable, you will need to have network cards in both the machines ( If I am not wrong ! )
If you don't need super high speed a lap link cable is probably the cheapest and easiest. Just plugs into each computer's parallel(or serial) port. No network cards or adapters needed.
Type 'direct cable connection' in Windows help for more information.
