    network 2 computers

I am soo mad, because i cannot find anywhere how to connect 2 computers to eachother!

This is the deal: I have a NIC on each computer (desktop, laptop) and I have a CAT5 cable... now how can I connect them to transfer data. and how can i find them to see shared documents ...

I am running on both mashines Win xp (pro)

I am tired to burn it on cds and transfer that way! I thought this was a simple task, however i am soo stuck...

( I used to have my computers attached to a lan using a dsl router, but i dont have that anylonger, neither the money to buy it!!) thanks for your help in advanced)

    You either need...

    One of these
    http://www.cablesnmor.com/crossover-cables.html

Or two normal cat5 cables and a router

With a cross-over cable, you just plug it in between the two machines.

Whichever way you decide to plug them together, you then set each one of them to have a unique IP address (use network settings) say 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101
Just google for "home network" for more info.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
I support http://www.ukip.org/ as the first necessary step to a free Europe.
