have you downloaded anything from this ftp site? it looks sketchy to me...why do most of the offerings have an executable (.exe) file extension?
i have downloaded about 5 0r six books, some are exe's because they are compressed data with installation routines.
Its good to be paranoid but i reckon everything off this site is safe (you can always virusscan it and you should be running a firewall anyway)

maybe you're right, but i don't trust it...he's got a lot of hacker junk on the server too...makes me nervous. Plus, compressed data is usually compressed with a standard GNU utility and you don't have to install a book, do you? I just hope he's not installing anything else...it's a shame we even have to worry about it...Originally posted by iain

--peace out...
i see your point - but they do have to be compressed unless you want to download a 25MB file, also some have their own reader utility and require installation. Some of them just install a series of htm pages.
