how to send and receive files(txt,zip,pdf,jpe format) b/w two pc using RS-232

Dear Sir,
i want to transfer and receive files in form of different formats like .txt,.zip.,pdf etc between two PCs which are running on fedora core-6 using RS-232 serial communication.
how can i achieve this.
please tell me also how can i configure RS-232 on linux so that its will be able to send and receive files.

You mean like say running a terminal program with file transfer capabilities on each machine?

Well it really depends on whether the OP is just after a solution to a problem (tech) or is interesting in researching various serial line protocols (X-Modem, Y-Modem etc) in order to write their own program.
