    gtk and gdk

I have a drawing area and I want to have a signal function that is called when a user hits a some keys. However the focus is never on the drawing area it's on the buttons. I don't know how to create a drawing area that when a user presses key it calls a function? Can anyone help me with this.
    Thanks
    Michael

sounds like basic signals from the gui processing, maybe make sure your drawing area CAN focus, it may have that attribute off.

though, availablity of the public attributes on the widgets is dependent on the development tools being used. Glade is the best for creaing a gui with gdk/gtk.
