Best Distribution

What's good for an beginner-intermediate with a command line and GUI? I've tried RedHat, but it's GUI stuff isn't compatible with my GeForce2, so I can only get command line. I like command line, but sometimes I just need to use GUI. Also, I don't have a Linux compatible network hub, so I can't download stuff from Linux, so I can't update the kernel, and install the NVIDIA drivers, because they use a later version of the kernel than my RedHat version.

So, if I haven't confused you, I'd like to know something as good as Red Hat, but with more compatibility...

The SuSE (http://www.suse.com) distributions of Linux are quite good for newbies.

They are almost as easy to install as a Windoze OS and include a lot of drivers for various hardware. The distributions come with a bunch of different scripts, which can do most of the admin and config stuff for you, which I personally don't really like.
I prefer doing this myself just with an editor and the corresponding config file. But most newbies like that automatical setup/config/admin stuff :)

Maybe try that one...

If you've got internet connection I recommend Debian =)

Debian is nice, but would be a real overkill for every newbie :)
