I read an article in Popular Science about modding an x-box so I could run linux on it. And with longhorn comming out in the future, I was thinking of learning about it anyway.

Unfortuantely, sites like linux.org aren't helping me understand. I need screenshots! I want stupid explanations. I know a lot about comps, and from what I've heard, linux has more functionality. But a long journey Begins with a small step. Can anyone help?

It depends on the version of the x-box also. From what I've heard the newer versions of the x-box do not allow you to install linux (ie they won't run at all if you do).

How I learned linux: Got a cheapy second computer and installed linux and dove in

you can buy a retail version of linux with a keyboard and mouse for PS2. maybe they will release the same for xbox?
