    Mp3

Does anyone know of a FREE library to decode mp3's?? I wrote to one of the creators of mpg123 and I was told that to use their libraries I had to pay. Documentation would also be welcomed

    Thanks

I don't know of any off the top of my head, but mpg123 says (mpg123 -V) that it's free software under GPL version 2. As far as I know that means that you are free to dig through the source code and use what you want, as long as you cite the original source.

In any case, you could also try going to www.sourceforge.net and doing a search for mp3 players. Just find one that has a GPL tag next to it, and get the source.

Failing that, you could always write one yourself. Check out the file format at www.wotsit.org for more info on how to do that.
