Java2

I am running the j2sdk1.4.0_02 on Mandrake 9.0. I have only created simple applications and applets. Who has some experience with Java2e and what are the possibilites? I like the fact that Linux and Sun are buddies, so I trust Sun.

First, never trust a corporation, no matter how good guy they seem. Corporations always have one ultimate goal in mind, and that is to increase the value of their stock.

Second, Java is good. There are a few things that I can think of that java would not be a good choice for (writing any low level software, such as device drivers), but for end user apps it has the advantage of platfrom independence of the binary.

I'm going to have some fun with Java but mostly concentrate on C++. I will build a website using the J2E SDK.
