Free VS2K5

I would have though this would have been posted here, but I can't seem to find it. Either way, it should be on the first page.

http://www.learn2asp.net/Campaign.aspx

They are giving away Visual Studio 2005 standard edition, and some ASP.NET stuff. All you do it, load IE, register (top-left), choose one of #1-3 options, fill in your shipping information (real info, fake business if necessary), choose 3 videos to watch, click to watch one, click back, repeat for other two videos, refresh the list, and it should say the product is being shipped to you, and then just wait to receive your free copy of VS2K5 in the mail.

easy as pie!, sounds like the standard type of instructions for dealing with any type of MS product.

US and Canada only.

Couldn't they, like, invade the world?

They don't want to send all of their spam mail over seas.

But even with all the spam, I still don't get why they would give away free copies of software that other people pay $100 for. I mean, this is the company that makes the software, and they're giving it away completely free. ?????

EDIT: By the way, if you like free stuff, you should check out this page on my site that shows how to get free music from aol (most of you already know this, but for those that missed it):

A paragraph on this page has a theory why.

"The logical conclusion of this is that if you're trying to sell operating systems, the most important thing to do is make software developers want to develop software for your operating system. That's why Steve Ballmer was jumping around the stage shouting "Developers, developers, developers, developers." It's so important for Microsoft that the only reason they don't outright give away development tools for Windows is because they don't want to inadvertently cut off the oxygen to competitive development tools vendors (well, those that are left) because having a variety of development tools available for their platform makes it that much more attractive to developers. But they really want to give away the development tools. Through their Empower ISV program you can get five complete sets of MSDN Universal (otherwise known as "basically every Microsoft product except Flight Simulator") for about $375. Command line compilers for the .NET languages are included with the free .NET runtime... also free. The C++ compiler is now free. Anything to encourage developers to build for the .NET platform, and holding just short of wiping out companies like Borland."

But the C++ compiler isn't tied to .NET like C# or Visual Basic are. Hell, if you could get a replacement for link.exe that links object code into an ELF... you've just given your greatest enemy a nice(ish) free compiler.

Of course, that's if.

I did it with Firefox. Instead of viewing them in the browser, you have the option to save to your computer. Do that with all three. You don't even have to watch them. Just start downloading them all, cancel, refresh the page and voila.
